Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I jumped in to the middle of a "forwards are bad" discussion on another board, and another member sent me to a website that linked to others that explained what folks can do with email addresses they get from forwards. I realize that people can harvest emails from forwards, but let's face it, people can steal email addresses from almost anywhere, any email. I know someone who had a breakup with another friend, and the second person used the first's email address and signed up for several things. I have heard of this happening in other occasions as well. Not just harvesting, but also taking from someone(s) in particular to create problems, including fraud. There are ways to go after such people legally, report them to the FBI for example. I have forgotten what my first friend did, but it stopped the other person. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | I know people use other people's emails for revenge. It's easy to sign up for spam offers with an email address. A site that puts out a lot of spam won't care if you verify your address or not. They're just happen to have an address to add to the mailing listl. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Its easy to send email by pretending to be someone's else. Thats why it is necessary to check for message headers to verify if it is from real or fake. You can't trust even emails now a days.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | So you are trying to say that any hacker can hack your Yahoo or Hotmail account without installing anything malicious on your PC? If that's true, it will be a disaster for internet users and specially for those who use web based email services... |
