Default Make your connection secure

If you are using a wireless internet connection such as WIFI and Wi max do not forget to secure your connection as there is an increasing number of hackers who gain control of your ip address and commit all sort of crimes.
Beware of that...

Yes will be glad to know how I could make my connection secure.
I am using a wifi connection at the moment to connect to the internet and I do not even know if it is secure or not.

I hope the thread starter will clearly state how can we secure our internet connection. I have a broadband connection; I suppose I am vulnerable to hackers as what is stated on the first post.

If you have wireless then please do this:

-Login into modem,router

When you set it up there will be something that talks about encryption or WEP. Set that up.. It will give you a code after completion enter that code when you go to connect to the modem/router

I am sorry these are very vag details but I dont know what types of routers you have nor do I know a lot about it... If you guys provide your router type then ill be sure to give you a better guide..

There are some great articles online for quick tips for securing your network. Most of the ways a pretty fast and easy to do. Plus they really do make a difference!

Never show/post your IP to anyone, if possible use a proxy to stay anonymous. Always install proper firewall so nothing lets in your PC or anything else.

Why shouldn't we show our IP address? I know of some forums that will display IP addresses. Hackers can use these?
