Yeah Justin its really important to keep your stuff protected, notorious hackers can misutillize the info on your comp.

But even i m really confused as to whoch is a good firwall program .. as i find Zone Alarm really hard to understand .......

Yes,Zone alarm is a good firewall and it protects your computers from data thieves.Anyone can peep in your room and see your private data.So it is better if you use some firewall to prevent this.But you can turn off your pc when not using.This would be a better option.

No it is not.If your network protected by 128 or 256bit aes encryption then there is no risk.If it is 64bit encryption then there is a risk.
