We have unlimited download amount with Bell sympatico. We have wireless but I know its easy to use our internet that way so i have a 128-bit encryption on it.. seems to work.

Some providers limit your download and upload speeds if you start using high amounts, even if you are allowed to. You just have to monitor it.

you can always keep a log of data you consume at your end and get an itemised quote from the respective provider.

Im an Indian and Im using the Airtel broadband services
They are pretty fine. I never had problems with them at all

It's the main problem of broadband connections. You can't monitor the bandwidth and they can fake it easily. Is there any software which could tell us the exact bandwidth we have used?

All the tall claims made by this internet service providers have hidden meanings. Say speed in terms of kbps would normally mean as kilobytes per sec however the actual meaning is kilo bits per sec - there's a huge difference between both of them

Usually reputed companies provide you a stats monitor for your desktop.
You can check the stats daily and can adjust the download/upload speed limits accordingly.
