Default Beware: Fake Website

Hi,
Recently I was hit with many emails on some email address which I need added for eBay or Paypal accounts. The email contained an complete clone of eBay with a fake url to login. I knew it was fake but I thought of having a look on the sites. .. The fake site looked completely like the original site without https:// remember to check the mails carefully and look over the security certificate too.

The scammers are getting clever these days. Glad you didn't get caught out.

I just advise people to ignore emails they get from places like eBay or their bank. If you think its a real message, open your browser and type in the URL of the place that emailed you manually, then check your 'message center' on that site to see if they really did contact you.

It would be interesting to see the full headers from the phish that Mike recieved. I don't think they will necessarilly be the same email.

Tons of scammers spoof ebay and paypal emails - they're the most commonly used so easiest targets.

It would not be the same e-mail but the format would be the same...only the amount would be different...PayPal should not allow users to make usernames that include PayPal ... What do you think ?

Can internet browsers with protections from malicious web sites be able to detect these scams? Thanks for the tips guys. I know different types of phishing activities are out there and everyone should always be careful not to caught in their lure.
