Default file naming convention

Is there a best way to write your filenames for your web pages on your site to help in search engines?

eg: web_design.html

I agree with David that using the keywords as filename sure helps in SEO.
However I think that it only stop there as in SEO only content matters.

You should use the keyword as part of the file name.
In this way I think Search spiders will pick it up better.

Im not sure why search engines do this. If there a domain that has a keyword that i am fighting for it makes it really hard because no matter how hard I try they will always be on top of me.

Any suggestions for this?

Put a dash in your long words, that has been the best way to get indexed fast, I have also found that using relevant keywords in your addresses helps heaps also!

This has worked for me.
  • Buy your own domain with the keyword in it.
  • Build a site for that domain, containing at least 5 pages that are different to your main site. (it can be the same information, just written differently.)
  • Link from that site to yours.
