Default Invisible Identity Theft

There is a new scheme of Identity theft now. Some people reported that thieves broke into their cars. But oddly, wallets and credit cards were left behind. But when they received their new credit card bills they became suspicious, there are unauthorized charges appearing on the bill.

sometimes the thieves are so smart that they dont even let a scratch come on the car and people cant even guess that it happened when the wallet was in the car...that is the reason people believe to take wallets along....

So the thieves are writing down the information and using it online later on? I'd make sure to change my information anyway just in case.

Default online and in the store...

When I went through my stage of not wanting to have a credit card, I thought I could get away with using just the statement for emergencies. Because it can be so easy to get someone's statement, or write down a number, my information had to be verified by a manager every time I bought something. It was a pain in the tailbone, to say the least.

I finally called the company, after emailing several times with no response, and ordered another card. The customer service person explained to me what was going on and why I had to be verified each time - it was because I did not have the physical card. Received the card, used it, and all works perfectly.

This was a store card, so I am not sure if you have or can get such protection on MasterCard, AmEx, Discover, and so forth.

There is a CVV2 number on your credit card which is must to provide when you shop online. So if a thief knows it, he can misuse your card.
