Default Phishing Orientation

I am not that proficient when it comes to the updates on the World Wide Web. I am really worried about this phishing stuff. I always make transactions online. How can I easily check if an email sent to me is legitimate and comes from the company itself? I am afraid that I might be a victim of this scam. I am about to get my first credit card and it will be used for my transactions online.

see to it the the emails come from a specific email id...the banks always send you a letter or call up for some transaction..so I guess there should be no worries in case of a real bank

Thanks for the advice swapnil90. I will just keep in mind that I should only transact with someone if the bank has previously notified me either thru letter or phone call. Did I get it correctly?

Usually people just go to the bank personally too...but due to extra competition these days banks have to takje extra care about their cusotmer's security and so they usually call up...see if the facility is available for your bank

If the bank don't call you up regarding that mail, you could also call them up to check. Don't give out any information just yet, until you have made sure that the mail is authentic.

Let it pass, if that is so important for the Bank, I think they will definitely call you or e-mail you back. Don't trust any emails that asks for any information from you ever.
