Yea I get a lot of these type of emails too but not from Capital One. Some people think its the actual company and type in the info.

You just have to be very careful.

Real credit card companies wouldn't need to ask for you pin and cc# for they already have that. If you really are concerned though, try calling your company by phone and don't reply to them through e-mail. They are so pesky that I just wish that they would one day get caught and be locked up.

well i think i stated that in another topic -- i said if a company i work with or have a relation with asks me to verify or confirm something online about billing -- i never do it over the internet, i always call to confirm that they want it and give it over the phone, simple.

Thanks a lot for this post. Finally, I have seen a sample email that has phishing on it. I'm glad I have not received anything like this.

It is always not safe to click on links sent to emails. Better check the homepage of the site rather than click the links they have provided.

Always make the internet transaction a last resort. If you can fix problems personally or over the phone, then by all means deal with it that way. Internet security is still not perfect and there seems to be a scarcity of trust worthy people online these days.

yeah phone is the thing to use if you are working with huge companies like credit card companies, phone companies, your cable company, it doesnt have to be personally, just use their 800 number and its all good.
