Verified members complied with the verification process of Paypal. That is the submission of information attesting to the veracity of their account information. You submit credit card information and you get the verification code to activate your account as verified member.

As a general rule, I only deal with verified members.

I've been ripped off a couple times by non-verified paypal members. So now for the most part I stick to only verified. It eliminates the riskfactor.

I prefer being verified, as the trust level would decrease if any of the buyers see our identification as unverified. They wouldn’t fee secure dealing or doing any transaction with us.

The unverified just means they haven't added a bank account or verified it yet. No reason to not accept them (they can still pay with a credit card).

The monthly cappage and many restrictions like PP guys impose for fraud prevention get removed as we become verified users.

Default Another unverified reason

I am unverified because of a glitch that occurred when I went to verify. Visa occasionally has problems due to my current address - I have a PO box, and the post office returns any mail sent to my street address. If prompted I will put down both addresses, many places refuse a PO box address. The time Paypal tried to verify, Visa would not accept the order of PO box versus street address.

Paypal claims they tried twice, and since Visa rejected it both times, I can not ever use that card or that account, therefore I can not ever be verified. Seems so ridiculous to me that even after several years of using Paypal without problems, the card can not be verified.

I can see a time limit, say 6 months to a year, in which a card/account could not be used for verification after it has been denied. That would help keep abuse down. But a year or more? If a card is stolen and you have not notified your company for over a year - there's something wrong with you, not the company!
