The ids are being hacked...so not disclose them publicly in any forums...be careful with such stuff!!

ID's? You mean email address? Yes. I think that's a problem While email has been really convenient, it's time to start using user names.

the second reason for not giving email address online (paypal id or even others) is that doing that basically you are giving an invitation to spam bots to spam your email

Exactly....when i was small i gave a lot of web sites my ids...now m regretting...i get around 200 spam messages each day n m bugged of it...cant even change the email ids because then ill have to change all my registries....inform all frnz...etc etc

I am not aware that even paypal is now being hacked. egold is being hacked too. What can we do to protect our accounts? We rely on paypal and egold for our transactions online.

Just use a long password with letters and numbers, and change it frequently. Also, if your email address is, say 'pratchettfan@watever.blah' then don't use Rincewind as your password - use something totally unrelated, its harder to guess.

Tips

Dont give ur PayPal id in Public....send a PM to those u have to transact wid....
Make a separate a/c for ur paypal thingy so ppl cant guess...
Passwords are case sensitive....so use it....keep using ur SHIFT key...
Use some symbol in ur passwords...hardly ne1 does dat....very helpful
Never log into ur PayPal a/c at a cyber cafe....they have password storing softwares....

PayPal too says.
"NEVER give your password to anyone, including PayPal employees. Protect yourselfagainst fraudulent websites by opening a new web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer orNetscape) and typing in the PayPal URL every time you log in to your account."

This is very serious problem . We should be even more careful from now on . Thanks for sharing the information withus , it will make us more alert .
I have heard that e-gold was being haked but it has started on paypal too ... man that suks ( i have a paypal acount ).Thanks friends for sharing this important information and on tips to make passwords and stuff more secure.

It hasnt started now. It was started from the time PayPal or other processor prevail!
