Default Interesting Hacking Story

Recently down here in New Zealand a girl's my space was hacked along with her email account, and the girl who hacked her is actually going to be charged criminally and faces up to 7 years in prison.

Just thought I would share, justice in a way for all of us who have been hacked.

It doesn't actually state how the account was hacked, but in my opinion it was most likely a phishing attempt.

Phishing attempts are all too common on my space now I think we all need to take a more careful look when logging into accounts in the future.

One of the best ways to prevent your my space acount from being hacked is every time when you're about to click on a link, please double check the link to eliminate any phising attempts!

Well, Jerlene like the old saying, "Done it on your own risk!". However, the 7 years would be too harsh for that girl...

7 years is a bit harsh, some people who do far worse things get less time..But it goes to show that at least cyber crime is being taken more seriously. However just like real criminals, these cyber criminals need to be put into better use as well as they are just draining tax payer money. A good way to put their skills to good use would be to have them work with the security depts. of certain companies and share their knowledge in hopes of preventing future attacks.

Though seven years does seem extreme, we could use that kind of response in the US, where the presiding authorities often don't have the time or sometimes even the inclination to pursue the perpetrators of cyber crime.

I would, but I don't have nearly as many friends in the real world.
