Bell Went Off First Time I Used My Card At Store

I liked this feature and I'm not sure if it is still being used by credit card companies, but about a decade ago when I got a brand new card and used it for the first time, a flag went off at the cashier's counter.

The cashier made a phone call and the credit card company requested that I show an identification to verify that the right person had possesion of the card.

Can you imagine the look on somebody's face if they had stolen the card from the mail and that bell went off at the cash register. How would they wiggle out of that one, I don't know!

Does that only happen for the first time you use your card? I do think that is a good security feature as well.

hi, i dont think such a feature is prevalant in the credit cards today. i cant imagine myself at the cashier and the bell goes off...oops.

Just depends on what you purchase and where you purchase your goods at!

i like it when the bell goes off. gives me a sense that the store is accurate.

Department store credit cards still do this to an extent. Since it is an in house card they are immediately able to tell if you are using it for the first time and they will verify your ID.
