Default Merchants to prevent fraud

It is important for merchants to know how to prevent frauds. They have to protect their customers. There are ways how to prevent this. Like for transactions with credit cards present, be sure to train your employees about detecting possible fraud transactions and carefully check the cards for alteration.

For transactions without the presence of a card, verify the customer's billing address either thru internet or phone. Any ideas to add here?

For over the counter credit card payment, make sure that the customer's credit card signature matches with his or her signature. You could verify this by requesting a valid ID.

Most frauds happen ONLINE, rather than in person. On average a person who's stolen a CC wouldn't neccessarly use it in person. Instead they use it for products and services, which are use in-direct interation, so they have a less of a chance for getting caught.

Transactions that are done in person are easily traced and therefore scammers tend to do all the scamming online where they could get away with it.

Just be more vigilant in accepting credit cards, be sure to check at least two of the credit card owner's information. Always perform verification from them cos that is the only way to help lessen scamming and identity theft cases.

Thanks for the update news. They should hit themselves on the back instead of patting them. I don't know if anyone noticed but no hard working 2nd class citizen could ever be able to get $200,000 in his whole life even if he works 3 shifts.

Requesting an ID as a condition of a sale is a violation of Visa and MC regulations. Doing so will open up for a huge fine and termination of your merchant account.

In order to carry out transactions there has to be a identity validation process. any kinda photo identity and i appreciate someone who mentioned the signature identification
