Default Buying Video Game Systems on ebay

I learned this the hard way. A couple of years ago, I bid in an auction that was selling a Nintendo Entertainment System, the only problem I saw with the auction was that the seller had only 14 feedback, but they were all positive and were from other seller accounts. I went ahead and won the auction, then about a day later I recieved an email which gives me a URL to an emulator website (an emulator is a video game system used on your computer, it is illegal). I came out at a loss from this, and the seller said it was my fault because I did not ask if the system was real or not. I was supposed to ask all questions before I bid, but I had no reason to because it didn't say anything about an emulator.

That is not your fault. If it is Illegal you could have reported him. I would have complained to PayPal, you would most certainly win the claim. Unlucky mate!

That sucks.. when i buy something off someone i always check the last 25 things they bought or sold and the sellers feedback that they purchased off of.

Has helped me a lot as i have noticed were someone with a feedback of 14 just sold to 14 other accounts that all had 14 feedback score which i assumed were all his.. reported everything to ebay 3 weeks later he was banned.. At least you know for next time.

Wow that is amazing. I can't believe he got away with that. You should have at least done something, reported to eBay, reported to Paypal, something. Sorry to hear.

You have to really be careful of the wording in the auction

You could have files a dispute. THE TOS states that the product should be same as to what it is displayed in the ad.

That could happen with anything that you buy on eBay. You just gotta hope the person isn't trying to scam you. That sounds like false advertisement to me!
