Default Paid Directory Submission?

This question regards that you pay someone to submit to directories for you, not paying to put in directories, have you ever done that? I did that once when I got a special for 300 directories for $2 lol. It was worth it, I received emails for all of those acceptions.

Did you gain much page rank, or any traffic, from those submissions?

Sometimes I think about paying for directory submissions, but to be honest I think its better to do it by hand, so you know what directories you are listed in. I worry that the paid services may submit to dodgy places.

The only way to validate such an action is during the "G"'s pagerank update. Keeping an eye on the number of backlins works well too.

Well, the best part is that more is the PR of directories, more will be your site's PR.

I have several websites and have submitted most of them to hundreds of different directories. The traffic I receive from these is almost 0, but quite a few of my listings are on pages that have PR so I do believe that it helps in that aspect.

If you are looking for traffic, directories are not very effective, in my opinion.

EDIT -- I should add that if you have a directory yourself you will get some traffic to it from some of the better directories. Remember that most people that visit directories are webmasters.

i have never used paid directory service as I prefer to submit my sites myself.
I just do not want to lose money in something that I can do myself.

What has really become a crappier issue is the idea of some directory owners turning off or on the "nofollow' attributes. I use a really valuable tool to keep an eye on this, especially for links that i purchase.

I've never done it but I plan to. It's so time consuming to have to type the same thing over and over again. It's like I submit to only a few people but it takes forever. Gets irritating.

It is still very repetive even if you were to do it that way. I have only ever submitted my site to 1 directory.. I think for $2 it is worth it to get someone else to submit your site.
