Hi,
I'm Ainuddin Mohamad aka ainmohd from Malaysia.
Google (Yahoo, MSN, etc if you don't like Google) "by ainuddin mohamad" and/or "ainmohd" if you want to know more about me. There is a photo of mine at one of my sites (click the 1st site in my signature).
Back to the topic of "I knew nothing about ChargeBackForum.com until.."
I didn't know anything about PayPal Chargebacks despite having a site selling digital products like computer software, scripts, videos, audios etc. Mostly USD0.99 stuffs. Believe me they are not old/recycle stuffs. I have to admit that there are some old stuffs too (with PLRs, MRRs and other rights) selling at USD0.50. After deducting PayPal’s minimum charge of USD0.34 I still have USD0.16 – better than those USD0.01 clicks from Google Adsense.
I was hit by 4 PayPal chargebacks yesterday. Since then I googled, yahooed, msned (I don't used other SEs) "paypal chargebacks" and became a bit knowledgeable (including my awareness of this forum) about chargeback. I read about how PayPal and GoDaddy support and protect scammers at
PAYPAL and GoDaddy Support and Protect Scammers | eCommerce Journal - Learning more about virtual economy
After reading all those stuffs about PayPal chargebacks I conclude sadly that there is nothing one can do about it.
The owner of one of the largest ecommerce sites emailed me as follows:
“from our experience any communication with paypal is fruitless in that matter.
they refer you to the TOS on their pages and that they are allowed to chargeback, if there is fraud.
I am sorry.. it just seems to be part of that download business!”
I was not hit terribly by the 4 PayPal chargebacks - just frustrated because PayPal debited me with 4 x USD10 being their fees for “resolving” the matter. I sold the 4 items for a total of USD12.00 (2 x USD1.00 + 2 x USD5.00).
Despite writing many times to PayPal, I was not informed whether there were 4 complaints of non-deliveries/defective or that a stolen credit/debit card was used by a guy whose PayPal account is still active (I transferred USD0.50 to him) and still using his email address. I also noticed that he/she were promoting web hosting services in the Thai language.
So what is there to stop anybody asking for a chargeback after getting/downloading stuffs?
If you want to kill my business (or your competitors), order 100 items at USD0.99 from me then you request for 100 chargebacks so that PayPal will debit me/your victims with a total of USD1,099 (100 x USD0.99 + 100 x USD10.00).
Thank you for reading this post - one of the longest in this section I guess.
