Default Does Pagerank really the criteria for higher ranking

I don't think that to get higher rankings in google, one need not have a higher pagerank. I have seen many times that even 0 pageranked sites have outgrown the pageranked sites to beat on rankings for certain keywords.

It depends on the "Meta" information your site has. If a site is well seo'd it can probably be higher than a page ran 4 that is not really well seo'd. Seo is just as important as page rank when dealing with ranking.

Page rank doesn't have much to do with SERPs. That's a separate thing, on it's own.
It depends on your keywords and content, etc.
