I agree. Google will control the world, if it isn't bankrupt. However, Checkout is US based, for now. Merchants can only be in the US, and its not popular enough. Google knows that expanding to other countries is risky.

Google Checkout has already conquered Europe. We expect more country coverage in the near future. It is nice to have alternatives because that boils down to better service and happy consumers.

If not, it will suffer or it should shut down.
There's no beating PayPal in this department.
