Taking legal action against spammers is not an easy job, as the law for different countries varies regard to spamming. if it is from U.S. then it is possible. But reporting spam mails will help the isp to send mails to spam or bulk folders rather than to your inbox.

Yea, I always report spam mails and I don't really expect them to attack the source. I just hope that by informing them that an accepted mail was actually spam, they will improve their detection algorithm.

Yes it works. As I have knew, some companies has now spam support like PaYpal. Since most spammers love to spam email regarding PayPal, paypal build a support for spammer concerns.

You should report them to their ISP yourself. I know that most providers just stop them from being able to send emails out over their service.

If you report them they will most likely be punished but it is over the net so more than likely they are just going to make another account and start spamming again.
