Default Firefox protection

I think that there is a protection feature that is included in firefox that warns you if you are going to a fraudulent website. Does this really work?

So far Firefox has not warned me about a fraudulent website and the feature is turned on.
May be I have not gone to such a website as yet.

Yes, there is indeed an option you need to check to enable such warning, but those warning are fetched by Google, if firefox is linked with it it will display those warnings.
