Default Forum Frauds

many times you place an auction for links on your website in forums..

Then some people bid your desired amounts and then they just run away and close their account after you close that thread..

what to do in such a situation ?

I've heard of many people that suffered from this, they won an auction or a prize and then their account got banned without a valid reason. It happens, its those lowlife forums out there.

This really get to me nerves, but you could limit it by sitting a number of itrader that no one with less feedback could bid.

I agree with the prior post. I think that you should also be careful with your bidders, run a background check on them; there are many different kinds of scams nowadays and this is one of it.

Be sure to put a second placer rule. If the winner can't pay for any reason, then the second placer wins.

Second placer rule is a good idea. Is this allowed by eBay and yahoo auction? This could be a good option for sellers, like me, in case they are scammed by the buyer. At least we have a back up.

Yes a backup winner is a good way to prevent this.
Though it can still happen.

Some things cannot be prevented.

Well, for auctions in forums, I believe the seller would have the discretion to pick the next highest bidder as the winner, in the event the original winner defaults. Therefore, the second-place rule would not be necessary.

The introduction of the iTrader system in vBulletin forums in recent times has gone some way in preventing members from making bids that they don't intend to honour.

I hate this type of thing. Always gets on my nerves when somebody does this. Some people just have nothing better to do with their lives i guess.
