Default Passphrase

Is it possible that somebody might hack your egold's passphrase? I am always prompted to change my passphrase because they tracked a different IP address. I don't know exactly know how this happens. Does it mean that somebody has hacked my account? Good thing my egold account is empty.

In this time where phishing and hacking is very rampant, I guess it is not far from happening. Just a simple tip for you though, just keep on changing your passwords as often as you can and don't give out any personal information so easily.

I suggest you get RoboForm, (not an affiliate link), it will generate long passwords for you that includes !$%^& and it will save and encrypt them.

A password like this, S1g&2ygB2#5&H54cpli^77bED#5*n*RJQIT%D9HTI , is very hard to hack, especially if you change it every two weeks.

I've used it for over three years with no problems.

One thing you can do is watch out for those emails telling you that you have just received money into your egold account and they give you a link to open up. Sometimes they can use that link to get into your acount.

I don't believe some one can hack you password/passphrase, as long as there is Trojans/Virus activities is going on you machine, which basically send out the sensitive information without you knowledge.

Keyloggers can capture your passphrase. But there is no way a hacker can bolt into your account because a change in your log in IP means you have to retrieve your security code from your email not unless it is disabled.

Your passphrase is pretty much safe provided you do not get phished.
Do not click on links located in emails.

If someone has installed a keylogger in your PC then they can track your all keyboard activity so chances of getting hacked is more in this case. Thats why E-Gold recommend to use virtual keyboard.
