Default Been Hacked?

Hey everyone,

Just out of curiosity, has your eGold account ever been hacked?

Mine certainly has! Luckily, I only had 27c in it at the time!

Kind regards,

How did you know that your account was hacked? What transpired that made you realize that your account was hacked?

Basically, the account information had all changed and the person had sent the 27c to his account! It was very obvious...!

I guess that is rather lucky for you.
Did you report the offender to egold?
It would prevent him from stealing other people's egold funds in the future.

Reporting anyone to egold is a total waste of time.
This is what they do, they find out which account the cash was sent to and place limits on that particular account lets call it A. However a hacker would already have moved the cash to another account Lets call it B. Of course egold knows which account that is too but they will never and I mean never follow account B.

There is only one solution while using egold. Make sure you are not hacked!

I would beg to differ on this point.
If you actually report the offender fast enough (for instance within a few hours), you will have a very good chance of catching the person with his funds stuck in that particular account.

This is a good reason to not choose a passphrase that is easy.
And also not give your passphrase to any other people and do not use it on any other site.

I think reporting it is a very good way to stop fraudulent people from being rampant. If you could report it to, let's say,e-gold's tech support, they could locate which account was it transferred to and maybe even catch the perpetrator.

Well, I did tell e-gold about the offender... They asked "any extra information about him/her?", I said "no", they said "nothing we can do, sorry." It was a rather disappointing response...

I am sorry it happened to you but you should've taken care of your account by choosing strong passphrase. From next time, also use IP security, and always use virtual keyboard to enter passphrase.
