Default How to detect fake emails/scam/phishing ones

Whenever, ebay or PayPal send out you email to do something, notice that they will write your name like

eBay sent this message to your name and for paypal, Dear your name

So, whenever you see like Dear members or anything like that, immediately stop reading that email and report it!

Forward the emails to spoof@paypal.com and spoof@ebay.com
They will take care of them

Thank you for the tip inworx. I will definitely do that. I usually just delete them and don't bother reporting them to eBay or paypal.

Basic thing is https:// instead of http:// but they can still scam by hiding the actual url so that never click on the urls in e-mails even they have been sent with your name on it.

Better tip - never reply to an email from either - open your browser and type the url in directly!!

Is it a thumbrule because some organisations also send mails like Dear members...

The most simple tip is that any correspondence from Ebay will show up in your messages on your account page. I don't open any mail from them because of this fact. I only read my messages.

Another rule of thumb is that you are never required by legitimate sources to reset your password. It is your own free will to do that. Besides the reset password link is never exposed to your email.

Thanks, I didn't know it was spoof@paypal/ebay lol. I've actually had many Paypal fraud e-mails coming at me so I'll refer them all to the above address....Thanks.
