Overall on ebay we have been happy as a buyer...We did buy a jeep once and went to pick it up and it wasn't running right...The seller said it had been sitting and that it needed gas so we went to put gas in it and came back. The seller called that a test drive. We really believed him that it would work itself out, must have some bad gas or something. We barely made it home...from about 115 miles away. When we contacted him in hopes he would give us partial refund...He wouldn't contact us until I got involved with square trade. He closed the square trade forum on us. I did see that he was bidding on his friends items and his friend was bidding on his stuff. I know there is a term for that but I can't think of it right now.

I now wish we had paid via paypal because it would have been much easier to get our money back or make him cooperate with us. But instead we took cold hard cash.

Don't pay cash!!

That is one advantage of paying through a payment processor; you could have a chargeback if you are not satisfied with the product that you purchased.

Its not always a scam. The thing with ebay and the "scams" is that people just dont read descriptions!!! So they look at the header and the picture and go hey am i really getting an alienware laptop for $30!?!?! and they click buy now. When they read the end of the header<subject> and the description that is in bold and they will see. Hey its an ebook ok. and may or may not buy... I had to give so many refunds when i was selling my ebook because people didnt read!

I have been screwed around 3 times or so buying stuff. But the amount I have saved and everything its so worth it. Just my 2 cents.

I try to do shopping in the legacy way with my shopping cart in my hand. It still works well for me.
