Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Has anyone ever had their income tax taken because of a collection agency taking it for debt not paid. I had a friend that was going to buy a new car with her income tax check but she owed money on a solar panel she had ordered years ago. She was unaware of them taking the money until she called to see why she had not gotten it. That's when they informed her that the collection agency got it. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I've never heard of anything like that before. The check is sent to you, not someone you owe money to - thats not the IRS's problem. Another thing, if she owed money to a collection agency, she was probably pass do on paying a bill... so why spend money on a new car and get further in debt? |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | if it's a real debt, and it's been long enough, collection agencies can notify the IRS, and the IRS will send your money to them rather than you...it's perfectly legal sad to say ![]() it's actually happened to my mother for the past 4 years...this year was the first time in 5 years she's seen her tax return |
