Default I read this some were, does any one has info on this?

How to get a higher limit on your credit card

Nearly everyone who has a credit card always has the goal of a higher line of credit. A higher credit card limit will enable you to make much higher purchases, normally purchases that you are unable to get with your current line of credit. There are ways that you can get a higher credit limit.

Does any one has any idea about above, how this works?

You can easily contact your credit card company and they will do it for you with no problems Or you can have a credit card like my brother does where there is a limit but if you spend over the limit then the bank automatically raises it which doesn't make a lot of sense to me but ya thats how it works.

The problem I see with higher limits is that some people will depend on that and feel that they have to spend that amount. I know several people that are like that.

As long as you pay the bills on time credit companies don't usually have a problem raising your limits. More money for them.

I have went from $500 to $6500 line of credit, Maybe because I paid on time. Every so often it just eased it way up.

Default over the limit - increase or not?

I read the other day that most people would prefer to have their card denied than to have an automatic credit limit raise. Why could the companies not do as the bank does - if the purchase is $100 or under, the limit is raised, and if over that amount, it is denied? Maybe a $30-$40 leeway at the tightest, enough to get gas to go home/to work on, if necessary.

Surely there is a limit to how high they can go.

For some credit card companies, your request for a higher credit card limit is not automatic. Its approval has also something to do with your payment pattern and your capacity to pay.

The one time I like the automatic credit limit increase is when I have an emergency. If I need to use that card and have a good history with the company, they will cover the charge even if I am over.

That way I don't spend the money needlessly but have it available for a crisis.

If you payoff your payments on time that would automatically increase the limit on your credit card.

If you have a good record they will increase it or you can guarantee something to get the limit increased. I never delay my payments so they keep adding limit to my account every year.
