I read the other day that most people would prefer to have their card denied than to have an automatic credit limit raise. Why could the companies not do as the bank does - if the purchase is $100 or under, the limit is raised, and if over that amount, it is denied? Maybe a $30-$40 leeway at the tightest, enough to get gas to go home/to work on, if necessary.
Surely there is a limit to how high they can go.
