i got mine at 18 and i use it responsibly
i get the pluses of the credit cards (miles, convinience etc)
without the cons..

I got one of those prepaid Visa Buxx when I was 16 yrs old, but I don't know if that really counts since its prepaid. As for a real credit card, I got one when I was 20 with a $9,000. I was really surprised to realize that I didn't go all wild with it.

I'm grateful that I didn't 'cause credit card debt can ruin lives.

I had my first credit account when I was already a full time employee with all the necessary supporting documents for credit card account eligibility. I have been maintaining only one account since then. This is my way to avoid unnecessary spendings using my card.

I wouldnt get a credit card unless it is REALLY needed, I dont find it secure enought these days...
