Default Need a credit card or two for a vacation

Hi!

I think this is a better forum to ask this in instead of the Consumer Resources thread.

In a few months my family and I will be driving to Phoenix to attend my graduation from the online classes I've been taking. We want to get a credit card for that time, in case of emergency (the car we're taking is an older model, for example). Phoenix is several thousand miles away. Usually Dad does not like or use credit cards, but in this case he's asked me to find some for the trip.

I have a couple of trips planned within the next two years that I would like to have a credit card just for that time - next summer I may have to fly back and forth from here to NYC - cousin's getting married on the same weekend as an important-for-me-meeting, and so on...

Finances are a bit tight right now, so a secured card is probably not the answer. Are there any cards I should be looking at first? Any other ideas would be welcome as well.

Thanks.

Well, I'll suggest to ask this question to nearby friends and relatives, they might help you better. Because issues relating to credit card depends on location and the issuing bank, which they might be better aware of.

Good Luck

Default Thanks to both of you.

We're still looking at going, have not been sure for the past few weeks. I think Dad has already asked his bank, but am not sure, so will check with him. American Express sounds interesting; I do not think any of us have used it before.

It all depends on location and the issuing bank, you need to ask from the person who had previously used it. I am sure he will guide you better.
