Talking to a Real Person on PayPal

I thought this might be helpful information for anyone needing to talk to someone at PayPal. When I was going through a fraud problem a while back it was so difficult to talk to a real person on the phone instead of getting pre-recorded information about "preventing" fraud and what fraud was. If you call and just keep saying "Agent" again and again to the voice prompt, though, I found that you get someone rather quickly.

Hope no one else ever has to go through that!

Thanks for the advice. It is so hard anymore to talk to a real person at ANY company. I have found that if I push the buttons for "I want to buy something" or "I want to pay my bill" I will get through to a real person much quicker than if I push the buttons for "I have a problem".

Thanks to you both for the advice. I can't figure out how repeating the word agent works but so long as it does that's all that matters! I really dislike sites that hide the real people away. LadyLuck, your post made me smile.

They have a prompter that tells you to say what you want (i.e. "Do you want to make a payment, yes or no?" "Please say the name of the department you would like to be transferred to." etc.) Saying "Agent" must be a default way of getting a person for them.

I am just trying to say this to as many people as possible. We need a legit competitors. Paypal being the only players gives them way too power and i am sick and tired of all these fees

I agree with this advice. I do the same thing whenever I have to deal with customer service. It really is difficult to talk to a live person these days.

No matter what the 'press -- for this --' tells you, hitting "0" usually gets you to an operator. I use it with almost every customer service call

I have never had that problem. When I call Paypal I always get right through. Of course I never use voice prompts, those things are just there to buy time so they don't get in trouble with the FCC.

There are actually some companies who have great voice activated systems that lead you to real people. Paypals is one of the worst ones out there. They make a ton of money so I do not know why they do not make it better!

I think Paypal does a very good job considering what a huge customer base they have. I've never had any problems getting through to a real person. I have a Paypal Mastercard-don't know if that makes a difference.
