Default What's the diffrence between Refund And Chargeback?

Is it the same? You still get the money back, right? Or does it have a different meaning? I sometimes get confused.

It is the same thing, but in a chargeback you are not notifying the company directly, you are getting your money back through the merchant!

If its a refund then they are giving you the money back easily and without problems. If there is a chargeback means the seller refused to give money back but you got it back anyways... But basically the same meaning..

I don't think so Chargeback and refund is one and the same. As whenever a merchant refunds the amount, he only loses the actual amount transacted but if the card holder initiates chargeback then merchants are billed for the chargebacks as well as have a bad remark to his merchant account in most cases.

When a customer contacts their credit card company and when they have a problem with a transaction, the customer submits a chargeback request.
if there are no problems in transaction then its refund .

Refunds and chargebacks are not evenly remotely the same.

A refund is when you purchase something and you legitmately have a problem. The vendor acknowledges the problem and agrees to refund or return your money. These situations are usually amicable.

A chargeback suggests a huge problem. It can suggest fraud on the vendor's part for not supplying an item or it can suggest fraud on the buyer's part for stealing an item.

It can suggest someone using a credit card illegally. No matter how you look at it, a chargeback is a serious thing. Further if you are the merchant and you receive too many chargebacks, the processor will have a rep from their investigation unit check into you.

So no these two terms are not even remotely similar nor used interchangeably.

Chargeback is something that is negative, and normally means something unsatisfactory occured....

a refund is a positive thing, its the seller opting to give something back to the client while the chargeback is the client forcing the money back from the seller

A chargeback is when you go after your money. A refund is given to you.

Chargeback and Refund aren't same thing. Refund is made by merchant by his own will but a chargeback can be done without notifying the merchant.
