Statistics about Chargebacks

Hi

Does anyone know some free statistics regarding charge backs in:
- the U.S.
- UK
- Other European Countries?

I'd like to check the risks in the country I'm selling my (expensive) products.

Chargeback rates have little value in telling you which countries to sell in. While most fraud does in fact come from outside the United States, in my experience most chargebacks come from the United States. I would suggest that you take precaution from any country you accept cards from but definitely stay clear of the obvious ones, i.e. Nigeria.

According to the 2008 edition of CyberSource’s Annual Online Fraud Report, 38% of merchants reported a fraudulent order rate of 1% or more.
The report states the average time spent on fraud chargebacks was 1.8 hours per incident. Thirty-five percent of merchants spend 0.5% or more of their revenue dealing with online fraud.
The CyberSource survey was carried out with over 300 merchants in the USA, from small to large businesses.
