Default Just did it

I just did a chargeback.

One person was trying to do cheat with me.

He was selling me a website which he dint owned. I emailed the adin of the website after I sent payment of $250 and I got reply "The site ios not for sale"

How stupid am I. Why I havent tried that before. I immediately called up my bank and they reversed the transaction...

It was a good luck for me in bad time...

There is only one place you can purchase a domain - a domain registrar such as GoDaddy.com, NetworkSolutions.com, and others.

The transfer would have to go through the registrar. I could be wrong, but I don't think even the domain owner can just transfer the legal ownership. I own 6 domains and I can't do it.

I think you should have the site first (or at least a control of it) before you sent the payment. Good thing you have made a charge back though.

You should always look into things BEFORE you complete the transaction, especially if there's cash involved.

This is false information. You can buy them at registers but if the domain is already registered, you can contact the owner of the domain about purchasing it. If they are happy with the price, you will have to pay them and they will obviously have to transfer the domain name to your account.

You should take precautionary measures before paying for any transaction. Especially that big amount of money is involved; you should have inquired about the site first before paying. Good thing there is chargeback and you were able to cancel the payment at once. If not, goodbye to your $250.

Right - therefor you must go through a registrar so how is my statement false?

I think it's safe to say, if you do buy a domain, be safe and know who you are dealing with, regardless of who it is.
