Concert Ticket Chargeback I'm looking for advice as I'm currently in a dispute.
I recently sold concert tickets to a buyer via Craigslist. The tickets were sold substantially above face value. I received payment via Paypal, and the buyer received and confirmed receipt of the tickets (I also have the FedEx signature confirming receipt). About 2 months later, the band changed the date of the concert to 2 days earlier than the original date.
I informed the buyer out of courtesy, and he demanded a full refund. Ticketmaster is offering a refund of the face value only. I told the buyer I would return the tickets to Ticketmaster for him, but that he would only receive the face value plus fees...the additional amounts he paid are not my responsibility. He is now initiating a chargeback through Mastercard. Paypal will not get involved since the dispute was over 45 days after the purchase.
My question is...will this chargeback be held up by his credit card company? Paypal is useless and they will charge me if the credit card company charges them. I am trying to decide if I should settle with the buyer or hold my ground. My view is that I do not owe him a refund since the tickets were bought as-is. However, the original seller Ticketmaster was offering a refund. Now, of course, it is too late even for that refund as the concert is next week.
Thanks for your advice! |
