CIBC VISA chargeback? Hi. I am new to this forum and I am in need of some answers. I am confused with the whole chargeback thing. This is the first time I need to do a charge back, so here is my story:
I bought a pair of limited edition Levi's Jeans on May 29th 2008 for 1600cdn dollars. I emailed the seller and asked him to confirm he got my money, which he did and stated that he will ship the following day. A few days passed, and I haven't received a email from the seller with a tracking number. So I emailed him with no reply. 1 week later, still no reply. I then proceed to email the seller that I want a refund and open a dispute on paypal. I won the dispute on paypal because the seller won't reply to paypal. But they could only recover $ 0.60 out of 1600cdn dollars which is non-sense. I called paypal, they said they can't do nothing. I then called my credit card company which is CIBC (a canadian bank), they told me I will need to wait 30 days so which is today June 29th to dispute the charge with them. So today, I called and they opened a dispute for me where it will take 45 days or something and gave me a reference number.
So here are my questions:
1) During the dispute, do I have to pay the amount due on my credit card?..Because other than the 1600cdn, I have 560cdn to pay off my card. So does that mean I don't have to pay the 1600cdn right now? Or I do it now and will be credit back after? If I don't pay now, will the 1600cdn get interest added to it?
2) Anyone been in this same situation as me, I feel so lost. Please share your experience.
3) When you do a chargeback, does it affect your credit report?
I am so lost, and I need answers. PLEASE HELP!....thanks! |
