    Buyer's Signature

According to Visa, MasterCard, and Google Checkout merchant's are REQUIRED to get the buyer's signature for delivery confirmation. I have researched and FedEX and UPS do not offer any service that allows delivery only to an individual only a location.

I keep losing chargeback disputes since we can not require FedEX or UPS to only obtain a buyer's signature. Both offer signature delivery but only to a location.

UPS and FedEX will deliver to "front desk" or shipping dock but won't track down an individual for signature. Otherwise they would never get anything delivered efficiently, it goes against their business model.

How do others deal with this requirement that we can not meet because FedEX and UPS do not offer this service?

This seems to be a way for Visa and Mastercard to ensure they don't have to back up their customer's (merchants) even when they process thousands of transactions with them. It's doesnt' mater that we have a shipment tracking number and signature of delivery at the location. Visa and Mastercard will award the claim to the consumer since the buyer's signature was not obtained.

I feel a class action lawsuit against Visa and MasterCard is warranted since this requirement is not obtainable by ANY merchant with FedEX or UPS.

    Re: Buyer's Signature

They do have that option. You can require a direct signature from fedex meaning the person the item is being shipped to has to provide an ID.

    Re: Buyer's Signature

FedEX Direct Signature only requires a signature at the LOCATION not an individual. You can confirm this by calling FedEX and asking about this service as I have done.

BTW signature of someone at the location is insufficient documentation to prove you did deliver the product as requested to the billing address. We have lost several charge backs because we did not exclusively obtain the buyer's signature.

Front desk, shipping dock, family member FedEX Direct Signature are all deemed insufficient evidence of delivery of product to credit card companies.

I move to place a class action lawsuit against MasterCard and Visa because it is impossible to only obtain the buyer's signature at delivery since no shipping carrier offers this service.
