Hi all, I need some information to help me deal with a fraudulent chargeback against me on Paypal.
Long story short, the transaction in question was for intangible online goods and was completed around the beginning of June of this year. The goods were account information for an online video game. The sale went through fine and I had forgot about it. About 5 months after completing this transaction I removed my bank account and credit card from Paypal and closed the account after reading about how shady and insecure their protection policies were and, really, I didn't want to do business on paypal anymore.
In the past few days I have received an email from paypal indicating a chargeback on this transaction and was able to correspond with the buyer who claimed the account was compromised. We were able to work it out and the buyer got the account back the next day and this buyer claims he cancelled the chargeback but it takes several days for me to be notified of the cancellation and I won't be charged.
I'm worried in a way because the chargeback policy for paypal indicates I have 10 days to reply and provide evidence. The problem with this is I cancelled my account and I cannot get in and use the resolution center, meaning I would probably have to phone paypal and deal with a service rep. I'm not sure if I trust this individual and I'm worried he may just be trying to get me to wait until the 10 days are up. How long does it take for a seller to be notified that a chargeback against them has been cancelled?
Thanks in advance, everyone. Also, apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
