Thread: New PayPal chargeback fee

Now that PayPal's new fee structure has been in place for a couple of months I would love to know how it is affecting the small time seller. If you didn't hear about this then basically they doubled the chargeback fee from $10 to $20! Read more about it here.

I am personally from the UK so it doesn't affect me, but that is phenomenology high! I am sure that most buyers will contact the seller though if there is an issue with the product...chargebacks are supposed to be a last resort.

Ah, i wasn't aware of this. Fortunately, I was never hit with a chargeback on paypal.

Priceless, is this just a US thing then? I didn't realise that. it seems that if you use the PayPal Preferred program, you won’t pay chargeback fees for eBay transactions. I'm not sure how often that actually protects sellers though.

In the article it says that it only affects US merchants but I am quite sure we have a similar system over here on Paypal. I haven't ever had a chargeback brought against me on Paypal though so I am not sure.

Oh wow! I didn't know about this either and I use my paypal for everything. I even use my debit card for all my purchases due to the cash back awards. What is next? With the way everything is getting I guess we will have to pay to use public restrooms before long.

You already have to be a paying customer in some places to use the restroom. I think that is too funny I can imagine having to drop quarters in a slot to get the door open.
