    Password system

My bank have recently started a system where if you purchase anything online, you must enter a password. I can certainly see a system like this helping curb cases of fraud which can only be a good thing. Does your bank have a similar system?

My Lloyds TSB account has a similar set up but only if i use my debit card annoyingly. You have reminded me that I need to phone my bank at some point and get them to put the password system in place on my credit card too!

That is a good one but I am imagining a case where someone does have your PIN? It would be easier for that to use it.

All the same, that is a bold step. Do other banks in your area do the same?

This sounds like a very good idea. I wonder why it hasn't been done before. Would it be possible for you to provide the company's name ? I want to learn more about this new system.

It is indeed a good system. I have heard that some of the Asian credit card companies have this kind of set up. That second layer of security can only be a good thing, so long as it is used consistently. It's a pity that at the same time some places are simply swiping debit/credit cards, with no need for a PIN or signature!

The PIN does not matter online, without the protection all you need to do is put the card details in. With the protection you need the card details and the password. The only places that need to use PINs are when you are shopping somewhere in person, not online.

I believe most of the major banks around here do it with the emergence of internet banking. I think they are starting to see a place where they can help genuine customers. The only problem is that I can never remember the password because they require numbers, upper case and lower case...and it to be 10 characters long.
