Thread: Chargeback Fraud

Has anyone every received a chargeback when the buyer recieved the item? It's like Chargeback Fraud, I guess. They recieve the item and then use chargeback to get all thier money back and get the item for free. What do you do in cases like these?

This happens a lot, especially on internet when you are selling some digital product like a script, directory listing or an ebook. You can't proof anything because there is no shipment confirmation.

Yep, there are bunch of scammer around doing so, particularly in case of non-tangible good! As Paypal go not cover-up non-tangible goods in its TOS!! So can't help it...you have to be careful about it

You can prove it if you show the buyer's IP has downloaded the product off of your server. If you use a service like Clickbank to sell your e-book they also have security features in place. You have to keep as much documentation as possible to fight the dispute process.

It has happened a number of times with my online travel company. People book a hotel and afterwards they claim they never stayed there or made the reservation. I simply ask the hotel for a copy of the clients passport which they keep on record and I show it to my merchant bank.

It's only happened to me once and it was on ebay. Luckily though I filed a claim and got every penny

Yes, these matters happen to me seveal times for years.
using paypal at ebay seems better to prevent these frauds since you can open a dispute at paypal center which has all transaction records for helping the issue.In addition, paypal money is controlled byt the system.
So far, any other online currencies should act in this way.

To be quite honest I'm not even sure what chargeback is.
