eBay would place rules on this, but technically it's completely legal if the ad isn't deceptive in any way. Some sell links to where you can buy gaming systems, and not the systems themselves, but the auction clearly states (usually after a lot of text) that people are bidding for an informational link only.
Even if the bids go in the hundreds, it's all legal and it does not violate ebay's terms of services since they clearly allow informational products.
Sure the sellers gets a neg, but all they do is start a new account and do it again if the negs add up and hurt their sales. eBay makes it too easy to start with a clean plate, for both sellers and buyers. ALOT of the scams on eBay would be prevented if they had a one account per person rule. |
