Be Careful If You Use Bluetooth If you use anything that uses bluetooth, be it a cell phone with blue tooth headset or a PDA, never speak or type personal information in areas where there may be a lot of blue tooth connections nearby.
I use a plam treo with a Motorola blue tooth handless headset, and neighbors can hear me talking to people on my phone. The police scanners pick up the calls somehow. They do not pick up the calls if I am not using my blue tooth headsets (now I wonder if truck drivers can hear my calls when I am using my headset for driving)
Also, my husband has a mac with blue tooth....and was able to get access to my files on both my palm treo and my palm TX, just by browsing. I do not know how he did it, I use the TX for my password storage and am glad he caught it before I went to some large town where blue tooth connections are everywhere.
I now use the TX only at home using hotsync only with bluetooth turned off, and my Treo for things that do not need to be secured.
Blue tooth is new to me, but I can see how it opens doors for all sorts of fraud if one is not careful. |
