Default Preventing Click Fraud

I've noticed a growing number of companies that sell scripts that will supposedly prevent click fraud, but are those scripts really necessary?

As a publisher, I reduce the risk of people 'click bombing' me by limiting ads to only appearing to specific countries, and preventing a user from seeing an ad again after they have clicked it once.

As an advertiser, I limit my daily budget strictly, so that if someone does fraudulently click my ads, the amount lost is low. I also carefully track the statistics of places I have purchased advertising from. So far, I've only had a few problems and they've been nipped in the bud quite quickly.

Does anyone else have any strategies / precautions they can recommend?
