Default Finding the best credit card processing company

I work for a small company and we are just starting to set up credit card payments. My question is who should we use for a credit card processing company? What are the normal fees out there and how are they figured out?

Do you mean a payment processor or gateway? Or do you mean a direct payment from credit cards?

If your answer is the first one then I would look where will the majority of my clients come from. PayPal is used mainly in the US and Moneybookers is good to use when you are in Europe. If you can offer both then that will be better.

If your answer is the second option then I would recommend VISA because they are much preferred by the majority of people. MasterCard is the second choice although their fees are a little higher than VISA.

I actually mean the company that will process the payments that we get and put them into our bank account. I believe they are called merchant services? Who are you using to take payments and process them into your account?

Do you need both online and offline charges or just one? There are tons of places out there, personally I use Authorize.net and have for years (no issues with them either), but when shopping around its best to find out what you need and what you want from the company to help narrow down the search.

If you have a computer where you will be processing then I would say use Paypal's newest option where you can simply process the cards by typing in the information. They actually have about the best fee rates opposed to some others.

You should check out some 3rd party payment processing companies. There are a lot of them .
but i work with Netpay International. great service, limited amount of chargebacks which is super important to me !!!

hmm... it is better if you could have a merchant account from your bank.. otherwise you can use charge.com - they will charge you $100 setup fee.

I think the best part of credit card policy is that you should purchase anything within the limit of your card without money. So, you have to pay money with in time frame.
